Physical education at Long Stratton High School provides pupils with an opportunity to study in both practical and theoretical aspects of the subject. Pupils gain experience and skills in a wide range of sports and activities. These include: badminton; basketball; netball; football, athletics and fitness training. As well as these practical experiences, pupils also develop knowledge and understanding of what makes for a healthy, active body and lifestyle.
As well as the core physical education component of the curriculum, there is the opportunity to study the subject at GCSE level at Key Stage four (year ten and eleven). This gives further scope for pupils to deepen their knowledge, skills and understanding.
For all pupils, the department offer a wide range of extra-curricular activities, giving pupils the chance to train and compete in a variety of disciplines.
Our programmes of study follow the statutory guidance for the New National Curriuculum: Physical Education Programmes of Study
